Hello! We are Mrs. Rickard and Mrs. Langley, and along with our class teaching assistant, Mrs. Campbell, we will be teaching Year 5 this year. Please see below for some more information about us.
Working days:
Mrs Rickard: Monday-Wednesday
Mrs Langley: Thursday-Friday
Expectations Of Our Class
In Year 5, we work together to create a 'Class Charter,' which is a set of rules agreed upon by both children and adults. This charter helps maintain a positive environment in our classroom, allowing everyone to learn effectively. We recognize good behaviour in various ways. For example, we earn merits that lead to certificates presented in assembly. Additionally, we can receive raffle tickets in class, and every Friday, we hold a raffle draw. If your name is drawn, you win a prize from our prize box! We also work together to fill our class 'Star Jar', and once it’s full, the whole class gets to enjoy a special treat!
Highlights Of The Year
We have many highlights in Year 5. In the Autumn term we learn about North and South America and compare these places to the UK. We also go swimming in the autumn which is where we learn and develop key swimming skills. In the Spring term, we learn about the Ancient Mayans. It is during this term that we also learn about Space in our Science lessons and visit Winchester Science Centre and Planetarium. In the Summer term we learn about rivers and coasts and go on a walking trip down the River Thames. We also perform our production which we normally do with Year 4. It is really fun because we get to sing, dance and act! We end our year with a residential trip to Hill End!
